LAUTECH wins maiden Hack4Livestock Hackathon contest
To close the week, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has been declared winner of the maiden edition of the Hack4Livestock Hackathon cometition which held in Abuja between May 19and 22, 2025.
The National event was organized by the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy through the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR) in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
LAUTECH’s
team, tagged "Team Agro-Alliance,"
comprised of Saka Muhammed (Mechanical Engineering), Olusanya Ayodeji
(Electrical
and Electronics Engineering), and Ojoawo Rosemary (Electrical and
Electronics
Engineering); and was mentored Director Of Emerging Skills and
Technologies of the University, Professor Tesleem. Babatunde Asafa.
The team competed against 10 other teams from across the country, but it stood out with a groundbreaking technological solution designed to address key challenges in Nigeria’s livestock sector.
Its innovation impressed the judges and organizers, culminating in its earning the championship trophy, a cash prize of ₦5,000,000 (five million Naira), and sponsorship to participate in an international competition in Florida, USA.
The Hack4Livestock initiative was designed to harness the power of digital innovation to solve real-world problems in agriculture, particularly within the livestock industry. LAUTECH’s winning solution was recognized for its ingenuity, feasibility, and potential to make a significant impact on livestock productivity and management in Nigeria. This victory further solidifies LAUTECH’s growing reputation as a national leader in technological innovation and engineering excellence.
